Esperance's history began in 1627 when a dutch vessel 'Gulde Zeepaard' passed through the Archipelago but did not land in the area. It wasn't until two French ships 'L'Esperance' and 'Recherche' had to seek shelter from a storm in 1792 that Esperance was discovered. In 1802 , Matthew Flinders and crew sailed through the area while carefully mapping the south coast. Lucky Bay and Thistle Cove were named by this explorer. As you can tell this is just a small sample of what history there is in Esperance and what better place to discover it all than from the comfort and luxury of The Jetty Resort. Including the history Esperance also has the most magnificent beaches and native flora and fauna, you would need more than a few days to view all Esperance has to offer.
